Anti wrinkle injections by Daniel Bunker, Plastic Surgeon, Tasmania

Muscle Relaxing Injections

Muscle relaxing injections are a common intervention used to temporarily paralyse facial muscle to smooth the skin and reduce stigmata of aging. Muscles are supplied by motor nerves which meet the muscle at a point termed the neuromuscular junction. When a nerve signals the muscle to contract, a neurotransmitter (in this case acetylcholine) is released from the nerve which crosses the neuromuscular junction to stimulate the muscle contraction. The use of anti-wrinkle injections based off botulinum toxin arrest this process of delivering the neurotransmitter to the muscle. A detailed knowledge of facial anatomy enables Mr. Bunker to create a treatment plan which is not formulaic but individualised to your unique needs and goals.
